Definition
Win rate is the share of bets that win. It shows how often your picks cash, but it does not show profit by itself.
Formula:
Win Rate = Winning Bets / Total Bets
If you place 100 bets and 54 win, your win rate is 54%.
Worked Example
A bettor makes 200 wagers at standard -110 odds. They win 105 and lose 95.
105 / 200 = 0.525
Their win rate is 52.5%.
At -110 odds, each winning $110 bet wins $100, while each losing $110 bet loses $110.
Wins: 105 x $100 = $10,500
Losses: 95 x $110 = $10,450
Net result: $10,500 - $10,450 = $50
A 52.5% win rate at -110 odds is slightly profitable before any other costs.
Why It Matters
Win rate helps a bettor compare results against the break-even rate for the odds they are betting. At -110, the break-even win rate is 52.38%, so anything below that loses money over time at those prices.
