Every NFL spread I checked reads the same shape: one book, zero dispersion. College football is louder and still one book deep. So the one-line honest finding: no move, no gap, no dispersion this week. All 40 lines are single-book and quiet. There is no second number stacked against any first number on this board.
What that hollow zero does to the dispersion trick
The August 21 rebuild told PrizePicks players to check parent-game dispersion before building an entry, because when sharp books disagree on a game spread, prop lines downstream shade wider and cost extra vig. That advice needs two books to run. On a one-book board there is no disagreement to measure, so the check spins in place. The cross-book EV calculator and the Flex vs Power math both assume you can compare prices. With a single resting line, that assumption does not hold.
This is a data-collection gap, not a market move. Dispersion of zero tells you nothing when the sample is one. A beginning bettor should read it as "no read yet," never as a confident signal. Use the odds page to watch for a second price, and lean on the picks page and the desk while the feed stays thin.
What still holds from the original guide
The beginner guide did not break. Smaller entries compound less vig. Correlation cuts both ways, so stack on purpose or not at all. And logging every entry remains the only honest path to a real hit rate. None of that needs a book count. The one number that flips our take
Show me a second book. The moment any game reaches two books, dispersion becomes measurable again, the EV math turns back on, and the dispersion trick is live. A buildable prop edge needs a real market, and closing line value only exists after a market actually closes. Until then this guide says the loudest thing it can: the board is one book deep, so the highest-signal move is to wait for a second price on the track record, not to bet a single number.
