Both screens are up and neither has a wideout price on it. The wire wants a name. I would rather tell you the truth: there is no Week 1 WR claim worth your FAAB until a real NFL line posts. Everything in the feed right now is MLB and college, and none of it prices a receiver.

NFL Waiver Wire Week 1 WR: What the feed actually shows
Open the odds board and you will not find a single NFL game with a spread. Every line in the current feed is a single book at zero dispersion. That is a market that has not shown up — not a market that agrees.
The college side is a wall of mismatches. Missouri is a 54.5-point home favorite over Arkansas-Pine Bluff across one book . USC is a 38.5-point home favorite over San José State . Minnesota is a 43.5-point home favorite over Eastern Illinois . UCF is a 42.5-point favorite over Bethune-Cookman . These lines carry zero fantasy signal for a wide receiver.
The MLB side is just as useless for waivers. The Red Sox and Marlins both sit at a 1.5 home spread at the single book in the feed . A baseball run line tells you nothing about target share in football.
So the honest Week 1 WR read is: no NFL line, no WR projection, no gap to name. Consensus on a wideout you claim today is a guess because the market has not posted a number to disagree with. That is why my claim order is one line long: wait.
The bid plan when an NFL line finally posts
Here is what you do the moment a real Week 1 spread lands. First, check what it says about script. A home favorite of a few points usually means the underdog throws to catch up — so the underdog second receiver gets volume, but low-efficiency volume. A tight home favorite means both offenses stay aggressive and the third-option receivers see starter snaps in a pass-heavy day.
Second, rank the wideouts by that script, not by name. The pass-catchers on the favored side get the early, high-value targets. The receivers on the trailing side get garbage-time numbers that flatter the box score without winning your week. What would change our mind
One number flips this take: book count. The moment a Week 1 NFL spread posts across more than a single book — say two or more books at the same number — the market has arrived and the WR claim race starts. At that instant the favored offense receivers jump to the top of my claim order and the underdog secondary pass-catchers drop to fill-in status. If the first NFL line posts at a big margin (think a touchdown or more at home), I lean toward the underdog WR2 on volume. If it posts tight, I lean toward the favorite WR1. The concrete flip is that first multi-book NFL line, and I would rather sit on my FAAB for a day than chase a name on zero signal.
