Unlike the grades in Premium Stats, these rankings have some priors built in, so they aren’t simply a list of the highest-graded players at the position. Now that we are in Week 3, there will be some more consideration for this season’s performance. There is more movement than in previous weeks, but I will try to not overreact to what is still a relatively small sample size. Given the volume of injuries, any quarterback who is out for a significant amount of time will be excluded, and their backup will instead be ranked. 1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs (up 3) Patrick Mahomes looks to very much be back for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2026. Through the first three weeks of the season, his 5.9% big-time throw rate ranks fourth in the NFL, while his 0.9% turnover-worthy play rate is the fourth-lowest mark at the position. 2. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens (up 1) Jackson led the Ravens into field goal range with a seven-second miracle on Sunday afternoon against the Dallas Cowboys, and he looks to have returned to his best as an athlete. He ranks second at the position with a 90.3 PFF rushing grade, and also places second in Completion Percentage Over Expectation. 3. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals (down 1) Burrow was impressive right up until the late fumble against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and has put together his strongest ever first three games of a season. He currently ranks fifth in PFF passing grade and slots inside the top 10 in both adjusted completion percentage and accuracy over expectation. 4. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills (down 3) Allen ranks fourth in PFF grade among the Big Four at quarterback in the NFL right now but is just 0.1 grading points lower than Joe Burrow. He leads all quarterbacks with a 25.4% positively graded play rate, but is also tied for the fourth highest turnover-worthy play rate. 5. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys (up 3) Moving into the top five this week, Prescott trails only Josh Allen in positively graded play rate among quarterbacks at 21.4%. He also has been good at avoiding negatively graded plays, ranking sixth-best at 5.3%. 6. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers (up 4) Purdy ranks third in PFF grade among quarterbacks so far this season, and leads all at the position with a 67.8% positive EPA/play rate. With a 4.3% negatively graded play mark, he is tied for second in the NFL and is also third in positively graded play rate. 7. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams (down 2) It hasn’t been a great start to the season for Stafford, who ranks 20th in PFF grade among quarterbacks through three weeks. His 9.1% negatively graded play rate, tied for 16th-lowest at the position, has dragged his grade down. While he stays in the top 10 for now based on just how good he was last season, Prescott and Purdy have overtaken him. 8. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars (up 3) Lawrence hasn’t quite hit the heights of the second half of his 2025 season, but has been good enough to benefit from some of the quarterbacks above him falling. He ranks 12th at the position in terms of PFF passing grade and third in Completion Percentage Over Expectation. 9. Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks (not ranked) Darnold’s first full game of the 2026 season was an impressive one despite the defeat to the Washington Commanders. So far this season, he has produced a 26.4% positively graded play rate, leading all quarterbacks with at least 40 dropbacks. 10. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (up 2) Hurts ranks sixth among all quarterbacks with an 18.6% positively graded play rate so far this season, and places third with a 6.7% big-time throw percentage. However, he is coming off his lowest-graded game of the season so far against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football (43.2) 11. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers (down 5) Love’s performance so far in 2026 does not warrant him being this high. But priors and the situation around him prevent him from dropping much further for now. Love has still managed to make plays, ranking 12th at the position in positively graded play rate. Yet at 17.6%, he owns the highest negatively graded play rate, too. 12. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (down 5) Like Love, Herbert’s 2026 showing is not worthy of a spot this high, but he is being held up by past performance. He ties for 14th-worst in negatively graded play rate but has a 6.0% turnover-worthy play rate, which suggests that his bad throws have been really bad. Herbert will freefall in these rankings unless he and the Chargers’ offense can turn it around in the coming weeks. 13. Drake Maye, New England Patriots (down 4) Maye leads all quarterbacks in turnover-worthy play rate and ranks inside the bottom three in negatively graded play rate. He has now gone six straight games with a sub-60.0 PFF grade. It’s difficult to get your head around when you compare him to the player he was for much of the 2025 season, and he will continue to slide in these rankings unless things improve quickly. 14. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers (up 3) Young ranks ninth among quarterbacks in PFF grade in 2026, coming in at 81.5 so far this season. He has done a tremendous job at keeping the ball out of harm's way, with his 0.7% turnover-worthy play rate the second-best mark in the league. 15. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (down 2) With a 79.4 PFF grade through the first three weeks of the season, Goff ranks 10th at the position. Like Young one spot above him, a big reason why he sits where he does is avoiding big mistakes, with his 0.8% turnover-worthy play rate trailing only Jayden Daniels and Young. 16. Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints (up 5) One of the biggest risers in the early part of the 2026 season, Tyler Shough ranks eighth among quarterbacks with a 79.6 PFF passing grade. His 1.3% turnover-worthy play rate is the fifth-lowest in the league, while his 5.7% big-time throw rate ties for seventh. 17. Geno Smith, New York Jets (up 5) Was Geno Smith written off too soon for the second time in his career after a rough stint with the Las Vegas Raiders last year? He ranks 15th among quarterbacks with a 74.7 PFF grade, and at 4.3% he is tied for the second-lowest negatively graded play rate at the position. 18. C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans (down 4) In what is a key year for his future with the Texans, Stroud has looked similar to how he did a season ago. He has earned a positive grade on 15.5% of plays, ranking 17th in the league, but his 9.4% negatively graded play rate is tied for 14th-highest. 19. Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers (no change) Rodgers pushed the ball downfield more again against the Cincinnati Bengals, averaging an 11.1-yard average depth of target. His 13.3% positively graded play rate sits as the 10th-lowest mark among quarterbacks with at least 40 dropbacks so far this season. 20. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos (down 5) Nix boasts the third-lowest grade at the position in 2026, coming in at 45.7 after three games. He has reached that grade in multiple different ways, including placing seventh-lowest in positively graded play rate at 12.8% and holding the eighth-worst negatively graded play rate at 10.6%. 21. Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals (up 5) Brissett is playing well in the Cardinals’ offense right now, ranking 12th at the position with a 77.5 PFF grade. He hasn’t been creating a lot of big plays, with his 1.6% big-time throw rate the fourth-lowest mark in the NFL. But Brissett has limited negative plays, sitting 12th-best with a 6.6% negatively graded play rate. 22. Kirk Cousins, Las Vegas Raiders (no change) Cousins' advanced metrics don’t quite match his box score, but he’s certainly playing some solid football for the Las Vegas Raiders. His 5.0% negatively graded play rate is the fifth-best mark in the league, while his 11.1% positively graded play rate ranks 31st. 23. Michael Penix Jr., Atlanta Falcons (no change) We only have one game from Penix so far, but if he can repeat what we saw on Thursday Night Football, then he’ll climb these rankings in the future. He recorded an 86.4% adjusted completion percentage in the win over the Green Bay Packers. 24. Kyler Murray, Minnesota Vikings (down 7) We only really have one game from Murray too, with him missing most of the season opener due to injury. Unlike Penix, though, if his performances are replicated, he will drop rather than rise. So far this season, Murray has a positively graded play rate of just 10.0% and a negatively graded play rate of 12.9%. 25. Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts (down 6) At 61.0, Jones currently has the 12th lowest PFF grade among quarterbacks this season. He has the 12th highest negatively graded play rate at 10.0%, and is tied for eighth-lowest with a 13.2% positively graded play rate. 26. Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans (down 2) Ward has just one big-time throw through the first three weeks of the season, and it’s safe to say that we aren’t too far away from people starting to wonder if the Titans should be looking at the quarterback position in the offseason if he continues to struggle. He ranks 20th at the position with a 47.3% positive EPA/Play Rate so far this season. 27. Malik Willis, Miami Dolphins (down 2) At 48.8, Willis sports the fifth-lowest PFF grade among quarterbacks so far this season. His 15.0% negatively graded play rate is the second-lowest mark in the league, and his -6.5% Completion Percentage Over Expectation also ranks inside the bottom five. 28. Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns (down 1) Watson has five touchdowns to one interception through three weeks, but has just two big-time throws and six turnover-worthy plays. His 54.0 PFF grade is currently the eighth-worst at the position, and he owns the seventh-worst negatively graded play rate. The backups 29. Marcus Mariota, Washington Commanders (no change) Mariota was impressive for the Commanders in their win over the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks, throwing three touchdowns and tallying a pair of big-time throws. He is an excellent fit for this Commanders offense in relief of Jayden Daniels. 30. Case Keenum, Chicago Bears (not ranked) Keenum impressed for the Bears as a passer, producing a 75.8% adjusted completion percentage and two big-time throws in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. He did have a pair of turnover-worthy plays, but made enough plays to keep the Bears’ offense ticking. 31. Jameis Winston, New York Giants (no change) Winston’s performance in the Giants’ win over the Titans probably played a role in the decision to trade for J.J. McCarthy earlier this week. Despite the victory, he earned a 52.6 PFF grade with just a 4.7% positively graded play rate. 32. Jalon Daniels, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (not ranked) Daniels replaced the injured Baker Mayfield in the Buccaneers' Week 3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He attempted three passes, completing none, and scampered for a 9-yard run. He did have some flashes in the preseason though, earning a 74.7 PFF passing grade against the New York Jets in their preseason opener.
