Landon Dickerson Announces He Is Going On The IR | Chickies & Pete's Players Lounge

This transcript does not include audio timing.

Hugh Douglas, it's a new year, but it's the same damn Hugh Douglas. No. Welcome back to Sports Radio 94Wip, it is the Chickies & Pete's Players Lounge. We're at Chickies & Pete's in South Philly, and Hugh Douglas still does not follow the cue. He just jumps in when he feels like it. No, no, wait a minute. Yes. First of all, I apologize. No, you don't have to apologize. But second of all, the intro was hype. So we haven't done that before, unless it's been that long since we did. We came in to bring them out before, have we? Yeah, I can't remember. I mean, it is a good song to start with. That's what I'm saying. The beginning of the season, bring them out, that was pretty, I just thought it was pretty tight. That's all. No, that's all. We should just talk about that for 15 minutes. You know what? When I'm in the wrong, I got no problem being a rapper man when I'm in the wrong. That's why I'm excited. I was not me rapper man. I mean, it was a rapper man. The new season, same Hugh. It was a rapper man. I mean, it's cool. You know, it's just like when we be out there in the huddle and I mess some plays up and he's out there screaming. I'm not mad. I get it. I'm screwed up. I messed up. My bad, dawg. Welcome back to the Players Lounge, the 2026 edition of this show. We are happy to be back in the Players Lounge. That voice you hear is my long time teammate, my brother at arms, Mr. Hugh Douglas, the Eagles Hall of Famer, the HBCU Hall of Famer. What else on the resume? I want to make sure I don't forget nothing. Kickball Hall of Famer. About to be weed connoisseur. Oh, slow down. I forgot. My fault. See, we're back. Into the far left. We also have Rodden with us. He's part of the trio in the Players Lounge every year. Glad to have him back. Eliot Shorr-Parks is in the house with us. Eliot Shorr whatever his name is. That's what I'm going by this year. You're blowing up, dog. I'm trying. I'm trying to get like you too. Try to be a weak. All right. So now I can move to the star of the Players Lounge, who's joining us tonight. A little bit of a surprise, but it's a pleasant surprise that he's here. But I'm happy that he's here. We get to talk about yesterday's game with Eagles guard, All-Pro Landon Dickerson is in the house. Well, thank you all for having me on. What's going on, man? LD, let me get this out of the way first and foremost. Congratulations on the dub yesterday. 6-0 under Coach Sirianni opening the season. That's nothing to sneeze at. Whatever you guys do in training camp to get you guys ready to start the season, it seems to be working. Another win to start the season, to get you guys headed in the right direction. Yeah. I mean, honestly, I didn't even know the 6-0 thing, but that's, I mean, we prided ourselves on trying to be ready for the first game and coming out and you know, at times it wasn't pretty yesterday, but I think there's a lot of potential out there for what this team can do. And, you know, we've gone through this before in the past, you know, new coordinators, new system, new offense, and there's going to be growing pains, but you know, just the way, honestly, I think the biggest highlight was our defense yesterday. And I mean, Zach Bond, I mean, he's... Hey, Bolland. Oh, over the field. It might have been his best game, and he's had a lot of good games. That might have been his best game. He was unbelievable. Like you said, hey, that's saying a lot, considering how many good games he's had. Eliot, you are the beat writer that we need. We got Landon Dickerson in the house with us. There are some news that broke not too long before we came on the air. Could you read that for us? Yes. So first, credit to Jeff McClain of the Philadelphia Enquirer, who did break this. I want to make sure he's credited. So Landon being placed on Injured Reserve, NFL sources said, Landon, I'm guessing you can confirm that. So these sources, I would assume, are correct. I haven't been informed yet. I've been told that was kind of the plan. So I'm going to assume that's correct. Again, you guys usually find out information before we do as players. So that's normally how it goes. So, well, you know, McClain goes on to write, Dickerson has been playing with various ailments and, you know, the ailments maybe impacted you in the opener versus the commander. So I guess this is the natural question is, how are you feeling? Yeah, so honestly, and, you know, address the elephant in the room, I played like shit yesterday. And we're going to dunk that, don't worry about that. Oh, I can't say that? No, I don't worry about it. YouTube got it, so they happy. Don't worry about it, you're good. All right. Yeah, I was a complete liability yesterday. And again, that was my fault. I know I said earlier in camp, I shouldn't be out there until I feel healthy. A few weeks ago, got rolled up on in practice. You know, I thought, you know, as weeks went by, it would get better and it didn't. And we kind of went out there and finally got some imaging on it today, figured out what was wrong with it. And really the best plan moving forward is put me on IR so I can get this thing better, to have a good stretch at the back end of the season versus kind of what happened last year was, you know, go out there and limp it through for 18 weeks. And I don't think anybody wants to see that again, because that was just ugly. I don't want to do that again, because that was just some BS. So there we go, I censored it for you. There you go. Is this injury that you, when you got rolled up on a few weeks ago, is this related to last season? No, this isn't related to last season. I think, yeah, I'd like to say, I went out on a mission in the off season to get my own team of doctors and trainers, medical professionals, rehab people, to fix myself, get myself right. And in reality, up until that point in camp, I was feeling pretty great. And you know, other than that, I can't make any complaints and knock on wood that, other than, you know, what I'm dealing with in my knee right now, everything else feels good. In a weird way, you know, obviously you never want to be injured, but the fact that it's not related to last year, you can view this as its own thing. Is there a level of encouragement about that? Yeah, there's definitely a level of encouragement, especially coming from, you know, what happened last year, being able to have the off season go through and do all that stuff, and then going through camp. I mean, obviously injuries aren't fun, having those setbacks and stuff, but it does give me confidence whenever I go, okay, this is actually something new. It's not, you know, an old thing that's lingering, coming back around, like being able to say, yeah, I got those things that I went out there to fix, fixed. So. Yeah, how difficult is it, or just, if you can't explain to us, listen, you're a competitor. You also have set a high standard for yourself and the way you think you should and look plain out there on the field, but at the same time, you want to be out there with your teammates. And I'm just wondering how difficult that is for you to sort of balance that, where you feel like, man, I want to be out there to help my team, to help my brothers, but also am I at my best right now? Yeah, and that's the biggest thing is, at the end of the day, you guys know we're football players. Like, that's what we do for a living. So when you take that away from us, when you're not doing what you know that you can do, it just hurts, and it's just something, I mean, it's just kind of like taking your identity away from you. So it's one of those things that you just keep fighting for it, and you're like, I got to do this until somebody pulls me out on a stretcher or something else. But then you got to look at it and say, you know, is it about you or is it about, you know, can we put somebody else out there right now that is going to do better? So, you know, right now, I think that we have some good depth with guys in the O-line room, and I think there's a good plan to, you know, have the best five guys out there on the field when it comes Sunday. You know, when you go out there and you have the game, like you kind of had it, and we both know when you walk out there on the field, even if you have injuries, there's no excuse for injuries. No. And, you know, there was a lot of talk being made about the fact that nobody talked, you didn't talk at the end of the game. Was it because you knew exactly how you played it and you really didn't have anything to say at that point? Well, I mean, one, I knew how I played, but I was also with the doctors immediately after the game. Okay, so yeah, I wanted to clear that up. No offense to the media guys in there, but normally when stuff happens in the game and you're hurt, you go see the doctors first because you want to get that evaluated, so I do apologize for not being in there after the game for that. I was just trying to go see them. Yeah, and I just wanted to ask that question, man, because you're a standup guy, you know, and when we found out you were coming, you came and with everything is going on, because you know how, it could be a little tough being here, and people like to draw their own narratives when they don't know certain things. And you know what? So that's why I'm trying to give them, you know, they need to know. But here's the thing, I appreciate the brutal honesty of Philadelphia fans, right? I played bad, they are going to let me know I played bad. I know it, they're validating it, so I mean, there's nothing there that's not true, you know what I mean? If we're sitting around and something wasn't true, then I get it, but it is what it is, you just got to take it on the chin. You mentioned football is your identity, and you'll be dragged off the field. We've been lucky enough to do the show with you for a few years, Jordan Milada has been on the show a lot. I know how close you are with those offensive linemen, Cam Jergens is on the show quite a bit. How much of trying to push through, when maybe you don't feel 100%, but is wanting to be out there for guys like Jordan, guys like Cam, and then obviously the offensive players as a whole. I mean, that is a ton to do with it, because a lot of people don't see what all those guys go through. I know Cam's back whenever I had to go to center for the NFC Championship game last year. Lane has dealt with a ton of stuff. I mean, even Jordan has dealt with stuff before. We've all been there through each other when we're going through bad times and trying to help each other out. And that's just a big part of it, especially offensive line. It's not a glorious position. I'm not asking we don't want all the hype and all the touchdown celebrations. We're our own little cult within football. And we have an appreciation for what we do. It's kind of like sewer workers out there. Nobody really appreciates them until you got pool water coming up your toilet. And that's just, I mean, we love that, though. And that's just part of our job and our identity. And we just take pride in being there for each other. So, without going into details as to what's bothering you, I think a lot of people want to know, moving forward, the future of Landon Dickerson, and I'm meaning more the immediate future. You feel like this will be something that will allow you to come back 100%, like, to be your old self? Yeah, so, consensus here with the imaging and stuff I can go into. So, like, bone bruising is what I have in my knee. Okay. Can you clarify which knee, Jess, if we're going to get into that? Yeah, right knee. Sorry. If you want to zoom in on him. His right knee. Well, no, I just need to be... I mean, he's the beat rider we need, that's all. So, I mean, that's the thing is that I figured it out the last three weeks that kind of bone bruising doesn't really heal if you keep banging it and doing stuff. It's one of those things that... And it sucks because you just have to actually shut it down and not do anything. And that's really the only way that it gets better. And, you know, talking to our docs, getting second opinions, third opinions from other doctors, it's one of those things that it's not fun. You sit it down. Once it gets better, you don't really have to worry about it moving forward. It's not a lingering thing. You know, once it's kind of healed up and done, it's done. So, you know, in my mind, that's always a bright spot saying that it's not one of those things that like I've dealt with in the past, that it's meniscus stuff or something, that it's going to bother you the entire year. So, you know, that's one bright spot in my head, is like, you know, once we're good, we're good. Little rest, some treatment. Yeah. Sort of get it going there, strengthen it back up, sort of get you right. I think that's good news. I think a lot of fans get worried, Landon, about the big picture, right? And I know you was asked this in training camp about retirement and all that type of stuff, but we speak to the fans regularly, and that is one of the things that people will throw out there as a concern is, well, Landon Dickerson, how much longer can he play? Can his body hold up? And from your mindset, you feel like you got a lot of football left in you. I mean, in reality, if I thought I was coming close to retirement, I wouldn't have spent seven figures getting healthy in the off season. Talk to me. Talk to me. It's a good point, honestly. Don't break all that bread. There you go, right there. You really shut those rumors up quick like that. Spent all that break. I thought it... Sorry, guys. Oh, no, you're good. No, I thought it was interesting. When you first started to talk beginning the show about the plan, you mentioned the backups, right? And Drew Kendall, from my perspective, had an awesome training camp, good preseason. How much of this decision do you think you can make? I know obviously your health is top priority, but do you feel confident? You say you wanted to play for your teammates that are starters. How much easier is this decision to make when you do have confidence in a backup like Drew? Yeah, I think it's a lot easier to go in there and say, there's a guy behind me that I trust. Does he have the same amount of starts as other guys? No, but I see him in practice. He's one of those guys, he's going against our, if we're going one defense versus two offense, he's out there going against Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Moro every day. And seeing him through the pre-season, even where he's progressed from his rookie season last year, it instills a lot of confidence. And I know I've said it before, but offensive line room is we kind of try and preach that everybody in that room is a starter. You got to act like a starter every day when you come in because you never know when your number gets called. So I think he's done a tremendous job in going from his rookie year through that season into this off season, just the way he's progressed. And I think that if that's the guy that comes in and he's going to be that backup role, I think he'll do a great job. I think Willie Lampkin, everybody loves him. I was going to say, he's able to break down on Willie. Willie's like our little secret weapon we send out there. He just kind of sneaks up on guys. He got a little Main Street, too. He's feisty now. He's a rascal. He reminds me of like a little pit bull. Yeah, I can see that. And then, you know, Micah Morris, I think, is a big body, strong kid. I know he's a rookie, but I think he's coming along really good. And I mean, I'm really excited. The guys that we have in that room, I think we've got a lot of really good guys and really good depth. I think Mark L. Bell is going to be a phenomenal player. I mean, obviously, it's hard to replace, you know, Elaine Johnson or Jordan Milata in your rookie year, but I think when his time comes, he's going to be a phenomenal player. So much has been made about the new running scheme that you guys are implementing this year and how it's a little different than what we're accustomed to. Some of that lateral movement, athletic ability being required. How much of, I guess, your injury wouldn't allow you to play the scheme that coach wants you guys to play? Yeah. Really, the issue with this was just bending my knee in general. It really didn't matter if it was running to block a guy or doing something. Just trying to bend my knee was the issue. Seems important. Yeah. It's just very important. I don't really need to bend my knee too often, so... I'm sure that has that... That affects your base, your power. Yeah, that's the biggest thing is... I mean, if you can just... You know, I think, like, whenever... All offensive linemen, we just kind of stay in a bend all the time, but... Every time you step, it was just some pain, but... And then, that's the thing, is I just... I got to be smarter just knowing and saying, hey, I'm not helping out anybody here if I'm getting beat or I can't do my job, so... Let's get somebody else in there. And I think, probably last year, I would have just kept doing the same thing. And I hate that I went out there and did it this game, but learn from your mistakes and just kind of do something better moving forward. And that's what I'm hoping to do here. Obviously, on one hand, this is a medical decision, but to your point, there's probably a part of this of deciding what's best for you in the short-term, long-term. When you're making that type of decision, who do you talk to in those moments? Yeah, I mean, there's, I, you, you surround yourself, obviously, with a lot of people. There's obviously people on the Eagles side that you talk to, their training staff, their doctors, GM. But then there's also, like I said, I went out this off season and I got a whole, my own team. So, you know, it's kind of like if I want to go to battle with people, like the Eagles, they put up their best people and I'm going to put up my best people. And I mean, that's just what I did is I, you know, all the information that's given to the team is I take that and I give that to my team. And we come to the consensus on what the best plan is and honestly moving forward and being able to say, you know, it's hard to be able to put an exact timeline on when you feel good with something. I have a consensus from kind of both sides on expected time when I'll feel good. And it definitely is covered in that four week window and that kind of gives me buffer to, I don't want to say guaranteed, but make sure that, you know what I mean? Like that window, I know that I can get through that and be comfortable. It shouldn't be any, you know, buts and maybes when it comes to it. You mentioned, you know, you invested a lot of money this off season in your health. You have a new team. Obviously this is unrelated to that. So this aside, how have you seen the benefits of that? The money you invested, the team you have around you? I mean, again, I thought you looked great in training camp. You look in great shape. So, how have you seen the benefits of this aside? Yeah, again, like I said, just dealing with the little injuries, the minor stuff, like nagging pain, inflammation and stuff, being able to mitigate all those as much as possible. And again, at the same time, I think we do have a great training staff and medical team. But at the end of the day, they're responsible for 85 other guys in that building. And I just want to go out there and find some people that, hey, their responsibility is, if I need to call them or bring them here in a moment's notice, they're here for me. And so that's the biggest thing, is just making sure that their time is, it's only for me, it's not going to be spread out. And there's also just the fact of having different opinions from people. I mean, not everything's kind of cutting dry when it comes to medical stuff. And just being able to say, you can get two, three, four other opinions other than what the team says to make sure that everybody's on the same page with it. And normally, that's what happens. We have good doctors too, but it's always good to make sure and say, hey, we asked five people different, what's your opinion of this? They all come back the same way and you go, all right, that's good that we all know everybody's on the same page. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, listen, athletes today are a lot more aware of taking care of their bodies and their health and getting that second opinion, getting that third opinion just before you decide to make that critical decision on what you want to do health-wise. Like you said, I agree with Landon. There's nothing wrong with having, as long as there are people around you that are credentialed and solid and trustworthy, yeah, getting as much information as you can is a good thing. I think too, even exploring like other stuff. So, I mean, you guys probably don't like taking prescription pills and stuff all the time is that's one thing this off season that I wanted to get away from. And I mean, even it's dietary changes and adding stuff into your diet and doing different things, but I mean, I went from end of the season last year, I think up until probably three or four weeks in the camp until I had this little incident without taking an Advil or Tylenol. Wow. So, I mean, for a football player, like I didn't. That's pretty impressive. So, I mean, honestly, it's being able to go through stuff like that and say, all right, like, I don't have to take prescription pills, all stuff just to feel good to try and get to a game. Just knowing that I can not drug myself up to go out there on Sundays is a good feeling. Well, and I need to tie it all just to play. I was about to say, I take to tie it all after the game. I'm only covering it. But I don't know if you saw this today. I imagine you had a busy day. But Nick Sirianni was asked about you and how you played yesterday. And he went to bat for you. Like he talked about all the games that you've helped the Eagles win, the fact you're a Super Bowl champion, how you really had an impact on that Saquon run and you helped clear aside to make that run happen. What's it mean to you to have a head coach that you yourself admitted maybe didn't have your best performance, but when asked about it today, really defended you to everybody. I mean, I'm glad he did that. I don't know if I would have stood on the podium for that because I don't know if I would want to put my name on that. But I mean, it's always not, I mean, you guys know how much as players that we appreciate and love him as a coach and what he does for guys that takes care of us. You know, he is really a player's coach. And I mean, that's a big part of why guys like him, why he's stuck around here and why he's had the success that he's had. Yeah. Listen, I know you're, we appreciate your honesty when assessing your own play. Nobody's going to be harder on you than you are on yourself about how you're playing. But the one thing this fan base knows is there's far more great them out there of you playing than when you're at your best having one bad game. We know who Landon Dickerson is as a player. So that game yesterday, regardless of what it looked like, isn't going to define you as a player. This fan base knows how good we have it with you there. So we'll get off of that. We got through that part of it. That's never easy to discuss again. We appreciate your honesty in discussing your health with us and everything, and doing the show tonight, man. Because like I said, I would have understood if you didn't come tonight being on IR. But you're here as a stand-up guy. We appreciate that. We'll get into the game. Take a quick break. We'll come back. We'll get into the game yesterday. We got our first victory of the season. Did you do the victory thing? I did not. I was just about to say. Yeah, I was wondering. I was going to get that in there, but you know why I didn't do it? I got to take my headphones off. Well, because no, here's the thing. I was interrupted by Hugh. Oh, so I'm sorry. To start the show. I thought I was okay. I feel like this is bad luck. I thought everything was cool. Man, he's just excited with starting back to season. He's excited. I know. That's why I got to let it go, Landon. I got to let it go. He ain't going to let it go either, though, but I'll let it go. We'll be back with more from Landon Dickerson. We're at Chickies & Pete's in South Philly. It is the Chickies & Pete's Players Lounge, Hugh Douglas, Eliot Shorr-Parks and your host here, Ike Reese, right here on 94Wip. Yeah, welcome back, Sports Radio 94Wip. It is the Chickies & Pete's Players Lounge. We're at Chickies & Pete's in South Philly. Listen, it's Monday night. This is the place to be. Come on down here, pack our half right off Broad Street, the number one sports bar in North America. It is the Chickies & Pete's Players Lounge. We got Landon Dickerson in the Players Lounge this week, Hugh Douglas, Eliot Shorr-Parks. LD, let me say this to you. A win is a win. I'm from that school. Win is a win. I understand we need to critique it and there's things to work on and get better at. And we're hyperbolic as fans. But getting to win is the number one important thing. Just your thoughts on the offensive side of the ball yesterday. You know, everybody's anticipating what the new scheme was going to look like. How different would it be from last year? What were your thoughts on some of the things you guys did yesterday? Yeah, so I think, I mean, obviously, really, you have preseason, and I know we do joint practices and stuff, but we try to wrestle starters during preseason, keep guys healthy for the season. But again, it's right now is we got to find our identity. So, I mean, we've kind of gone through this in the past sometime where we got to figure out the first couple of weeks of the season, you know, what kind of team are we going to be? What play? What are our go to, you know, bread and butter plays? And, you know, I think that, you know, going out there, like you said, win is a win. I think there's still a lot of upsides to this offense right now. What we're doing, I think the passing game was one of them. Also, the running game is, again, right now, we kind of got to test some stuff out and see what's really working for us. And, again, we've been running plays against Vic Fangio's defense for the last six weeks. There's stuff that works against him that doesn't work against other teams. And, again, it's one of those that as we go through this and everybody starts figuring out how to do these plays and how to do them better and executing and really getting reps at them, I really think we're going to set ourselves up for success in the run game and the passing game play action. I mean, just from what I've seen this preseason with what this offense is capable of and can do when it starts clicking, I think, really, yesterday, offense wise, the three and outs really kill you when it comes to building momentum and stuff. And you kind of saw that those times where we did convert and get a first down, when things start rolling, we can get things clicking. I think, for us, we were just hitting some stagnant places. And a lot of it was things, penalties getting behind, like the get back on track plays when you're in second and long or third and long or even first and long. It's not a whole lot of coordinators go out there saying, what's my first and 20 call? So I think, for us, as players, that's one thing that we really emphasize today in saying, we got to stay on track when it comes to these things. We can't have stuff that takes no talent, whether it's false start stuff or holding and stuff like that. It's how do we stay in front of the sticks? How do we stay on our routine? And how do we really get in the rhythm? And I think that was a big emphasis today when we went in and reviewed film. And I think that's going to be an emphasis every day and every game moving forward now is we got to stay on track with this stuff. For the most part, when you look at the offense, from your perspective, I know it wasn't where it ultimately wanted to be in, it's a small sampling size, but what were some of the positives that you drew from some of the things that you did do well? I mean, what are some of the positives that you drew from the game yesterday? Yeah, so, I mean, looking back at it, so this, you know, DC and Washington came kind of, Flores Street Vikings stuff. Yeah, a lot of blitzing, right? A lot of it is zero, a lot of it was, I mean, they had some tendencies, you know, if they were in base personnel with the underfries, like 94% blitz. And I think that, you know, starting off the year with that and seeing, we're going to get, you know, line stunts, we're going to get, you know, backer plugs, blitzes, corner cats and stuff, pretty much every play. And I think a positive for us was, we were being able to adjust to it, still run off the balls and offensive line, get to our assignments, still a lot of things to clean up when it came to that. But a lot of times when you start seeing that stuff and offensive lines that aren't used to it, everybody kind of gets big eyes and stops moving, everybody's kind of looking around where to go. Just watching the offense as a whole yesterday, it didn't look like those exotic pressures through a mental wrenching thing. It looked like mentally we were still processing how to be able to go after and block it and do that. There's just some cleanup stuff that we got to do. That's the thing, we were talking about it today because, I mean, you know how it is, the bar here is high. A lot of people, they were happy with the win, but they weren't so happy with the offense. That's the thing, when you're implementing a new offense, you got to get everybody comfortable with what you're doing. Because you know what's funny, I saw a couple of plays where, when you get comfortable in the offense, especially with the tight end leaking out late, and that tight end where the Commodores didn't know what was going on, when the tight end went in lateral motion, they didn't know what was good, they didn't know that he could do that. There are some things in this offense, man, that when you see it, you didn't run it, but you can see where it could be, pay huge dividends for you down the line. Yeah, absolutely. That's the biggest thing is, I mean, there's a ton of stuff, obviously, that we didn't even get into when it comes to this playbook. And it's kind of more of, obviously, there's stuff you want to save to the end of the year, and then there's stuff that, you know, it's kind of a chess game. You're setting stuff up for the long game when it comes to it. So, you know, that's kind of right now is we're building the base of this house, this foundation of what this offense is going to be. And, you know, we just kind of keep building on it. We find out, you know, what we're good at, what, you know, what play do we really hit off of? And, you know, they just kind of build from there. You know what's funny? I want to ask you again, did you feel as an offense alignment that Jalen got the ball out of his hands a little bit faster? It did feel, the rhythm throwing felt better than it has in the past year. I was always curious because as an alignment, you kind of, you know, I was just like, because last year he had off schedule plays, but I was just kind of curious, now do you kind of feel the difference? Oh yeah. And I think that's really a big part of his game that he worked on tremendously and improved in this off season was, you know, with this new offense, you know, rhythm passing is stuff that beats defenses all day. Even if you have good coverage. Yeah, because we're taught not to cut you off, we're taught to get to spots. And then if you get to that spot, you got to extend. So if you're throwing on rhythm, you're probably going to catch somebody flat footed that's not extending the play or whatever. And I think when you mix, you know, a guy that can be in the pocket, have those rhythm passing moments, and then you see what happens when, you know, you have those gotta have it third down moments where he goes, all right, it was good coverage, maybe we didn't have it open here. Hey, I'm gonna go get this 20-yard run in and get this first down. So I think when you mix those two things, you got something dangerous back there. How was the operation yesterday? Quarterback, offensive lineman, calling out protections, everything seemed to be working in concert yesterday? Yeah, everything I thought was going pretty smooth. I mean, obviously we had a couple moments where defense, especially when we're going on the ball, defense is, they're subbing or they're trying to get a call in. They're not set, so, you know, for offensive line, it's, you know, we kind of got to see defense to be able to dictate calls based off that. So when you got, you know, five guys just kind of standing up, there were some times there where we were a little late as a unit trying to get calls out and stuff, but I think, you know, just for having a whole new system, the procedure and everything when it came to it, I think we handled it very well, and I think that it's one of those things too, because you get more reps, you start to build on it. You mentioned a whole new system. This is probably the biggest change this offense has had, you know, since Nick and Jalen have been here, and really a lot of these players have been here. Sounds like you were encouraged with how, you know, how most of it went yesterday, but take us through training camp and off-seasings. We haven't talked to you on this show since last year. Just how was the process of learning this whole new offense, and maybe what did you learn about your teammates as you guys went through this together? You mentioned Jalen even changing so much, and what's that been like for you guys kind of learning this new offense? Yeah, I think it's been a phenomenal process. Obviously, you got guys that we were all in that system for five years before Mania came with this kind of different system. And there's a lot of wrinkles and things that the way we've done in the past are kind of completely different. So for us, I think we've done a really good job of almost trying to forget everything we knew and try to get it to this. It is hard because in the heat of the moment, sometimes after you've done something, you know, 500, 1000 times, you'll do it. And then you'll go, shit, that's not what we're doing anymore. And that's what it was. Make sure we clip that. I mean, you two got a twofer. Yeah. Sorry, guys. Who was our producer back there? Well, we're going to do numbers tonight. No, you're good, Landon. We're going to do numbers. We're used to Jordan cursing everything on here. No, we're going to do numbers. Yeah, I was going to say Jordan's got to be way worse. Jordan is way worse. But he thinks he gets away with it with that Aussie accent. Think it's charming. I mean, it is kind of charming. That's why he gets away with it. Are there any words you're allowed to say? Is it everything is all limits? You can say damn. You can say bitch. No, let's not start that. Listen, I just told you, he asked a question. And it's not so much the actual word is how the word is being used. It's what you can't do. All right, that makes sense. So if you say it, you can't put the ES on it. You can't say that and the ES. Or if you say it, you got to say that and then the other word later. Let's not take advice from Hugh. Let's not take advice from Hugh. It's a slippery slope down here. We got the bosses over there. They're like, what the hell is going on? Let's play a game. How close can we get to cursing without actually leaving? Postal station, 500 grand. Right on the line. Right there. Just right there on the line. That's because Hugh, he's pushed the line before. I'm a habitual lying like right there. You might be surprised to hear that. How do you think from a passing game standpoint, there was a mixture of everything in there yesterday. There were some quick throws. How about that McKay-Lemmon play? Yeah. Oh, God. There was some play. There you go. Listen, we've been positive this whole time. Yeah, we have. Come back to the McKay-Lemmon thing, right? So, this is what I want to say is... We keep it a B, you know what I mean? No, well, let me, let's be honest here, right? You got a first round pick, a super talented guy, hurt during OTAs, hurt during camp. Trying to get him involved in the offense, huh? Trying to get him involved, but... Wait a minute, hold up. Hold it, hold it. Keep it right there. No, no, because you know what? No, let me just say this, Landon, because I'm sitting here with two people that when I said get the young guy involved yesterday, they got mad at him. So, okay, I just want to put that out there. Now you can finish. I told you so. I was about to be like, when did we talk yesterday? I told you so. Two people. Well, here's what I got to say about it, right? Is I think there's an appropriate way to go about it and get guys acclimated into the NFL. And I think that, you know, for Mackay Lemon, I mean, really any rookie receiver, like do you want to put him out there and give him 20 targets in a game, in his first NFL game? I mean, absolutely not. You like get the guy comfortable. And I think for us that that's what we were trying to do with the guy. I've seen what he does in practice. I know what he's capable of. I think, too, it's more of, hey, you don't want to force this guy in that position. I mean, I think that he's, again, that guy, I've seen him move, he does some freaky stuff that, I mean, it's like kind of Pete Diddy freaky when he moves. Whoa, baby you're on him. Players Lounge is back, man, I'm telling you. I mean, Hugh's always working his own agenda, man. You gotta watch him, man. I'm just saying, I just want to back that up. I don't want to put any- You brought that up just so you can come at me and Eliot about yesterday. I didn't want y'all throwing a shade on. We're about to do numbers. How hard is it? Hold on, before you get to that, we gotta take a quick break. We got bills to pay. We'll come back. We got one more segment. We'll continue to grill Landon if you guys want to ask him a thousand damn questions. Let's talk. We also gotta go around the league, right? Or the league, as we say on our show. We gotta go around the league. Philly show. Yeah, yeah, we'll find out. I'm just glad y'all don't have a live chat of people with questions. Oh, we do. I'm not allowed to go on the set. They won't let me go. Hey, we're at Chickies & Pete's in South Philly. It is the Chickies & Pete's Players Lounge. Landon Dickerson, Hugh Douglas, Eliot Shorr-Parks. We're back here on 94Wip. Welcome back Sports Radio 94Wip. It's the Chickies & Pete's Players Lounge. We're at Chickies & Pete's in South Philly, North America's number one sports bar. I mean, my goodness, where is it? Chickies & Pete's. We got a lot of them, dog. We got it in Kansas City. Yeah, everywhere. Las Vegas, I think. Every airport. You know that one in Kansas City, technically on a boat. Oh yeah? Yeah, because it's like- You mean you were there together. Yeah, because it's like, in order for it to have a casino in Kansas City, it technically has to be a boat. Because you remember we went to Chickie & Pete's, and we had to walk across a little bridge. Yep, that's right. Because it was like- Going to Kansas? Well, no, it was a little bridge to go into the casino. I think to be on water is what he's saying. Because technically, it's like a boat. Okay, I got you. It's a big-ass boat. Boat. It's a boat. Oh God, we got- Boat. Hang on, bro, we got- A bow-at. We got a few more minutes. It's a bow-at. Hang in there. It's got here, man. It's out of control. So, real quick to wrap up yesterday's game, LD. That game looked like you guys had it under complete control for the longest, and then next thing you know, we look up in the fourth quarter, and we're like, hold on, it's still a one-score game. That damn game. We could lose this game. Yeah. What did that feel like? Well, I think the thing is too is, you got to play complimentary football. Like I said earlier, with the three-and-outs, when you leave the defense out on the field for long drives, you could do a three-and-out again. I mean, that's not helping anybody. It's putting them in a bad spot. So I think, you know, as offense, we got to get things clicking. We got to move the sticks. We got to get first downs. We got to be able to extend drives, be able to get into the red zone and finish drives with a score to help out your teammates. So I think for us, that's one thing. Moving forward, I got all the faith in the world in our defense that you get them time to at least come back to sideline and get some water. Yeah. I think that they're going back in, they're going to do their thing. So I know ended up being close towards the end there, but I think moving forward that we're at a really good spot. It was your first game with Chris Cooper on the sideline, right? Obviously, didn't play in the preseason. What was it like your first time going through an actual game with him, the sideline adjustments, just what was he like? Did anything surprise you? Yeah, I mean, it's definitely going from, obviously, you guys know Jeff Stoutland. Yeah. I really appreciate, I mean, one of the best coaches I've ever had. Then you got Coach Cooper, who is a player. He's been through games before he's had coaches. And it's definitely two sides of the spectrum of saying, you know, Stout was very intense when he coached, right? And that's just the way he was. He was wired. He was that way at six in the morning in meetings or, you know, seven o'clock kickoff. Like, he was going to be the same way 24-7. So I think, you know, Cooper being out there, it's weird to say, but there was less anxiety. And almost in a good way, but it's like, you know, you kind of come to the sideline and you're expecting, like, hey, we got to get all this stuff done. And I think he just knows this as a player, he's like, I know here's the corrections that we need to make it. We're just going to talk through them and do that real quick. So two different spectra, like two different sides of coaching when it comes to that. And I think for us, we're in a good spot with it, we're communicating the same things, it's just kind of two different ways of saying it. And I think he did a tremendous job yesterday with coming to the sideline evaluating, and the exact same process as we would go through with Stout or any other O-line coach. And I mean, it's just, they just kind of talk differently. Yeah. I looked at it yesterday and I'm like, it's a good first step. Like, you guys have to start somewhere. And I thought yesterday's game is a great starting point for you guys to sort of build off of. And not just the offense, I meant the defense as well. I think you guys get stronger as a team, as the season goes along. And with a new offensive system in, I would expect you guys to be much better in week four or week eight than you are in week one. I want to ask you about next week's game, but we already heard the news about you being on IR. So I'll take this time just to ask, what's the next few weeks look like for you as you try to get yourself healthy and back on the field? Yeah, so really, there's going to be no difference when it comes to my day, other than when practice happens, I go into rehab mode. So, you know, those guys will be on the field practicing. I'll be in the training room doing rehab. So, you know, going to meetings and making sure helping these young guys, whoever gets in that rotation, you know, it's going to be the same process of just sitting in there, talking it through with guys. Again, like I've played, you know, we've got a lot of young guys that will be in that rotation that may not have played the guys that we're going to play in these coming weeks. And, you know, luckily, I've had enough experience in games played. I've played against most of these guys a couple of times. So, just being able to talk through and, you know, say, hey, here's what I experienced when I play this guy. This is how he plays, you know, talking about D tackles, D ends, whatever it is. And that's really going to be my goal is I'm just going to, I'm still going to act like I'm starting and just knowing that I'm trying to help somebody else. Yeah. No, I mean, you know, like you said, the Titans, I mean, in terms of watching film, you know, Jeff, Jeffrey Simmons, great defensive tackle. What kind of advice can you give to the young guys on that? Yeah. I mean, we'll sit there and break it down a little more. I think I played Jeffrey one time before, once or twice. I don't even remember how many times. He's a little beast, yeah. I mean, yeah, he's a good defensive tackle and a good player. And again, that's one thing that I'll sit down. And the guys behind me, everybody plays differently at that position, right? Everybody plays that position. Some guys, you know, it depends on your punch, your set, whatever it may be. But, you know, kind of understanding how I play versus how the guy that's going to be playing in this week plays, I can kind of help him figure out and say, hey, I think this would be your best option when it comes to this game, whether it's pass sets or fitting runs and stuff. Well, Landon, we want you to get healthy as soon as possible. Congratulations on the win yesterday, and we're looking forward to more Eagles victories as we continue to go through the 2026 season. It's going to be a fun year down here at Chickies & Pete's. We out! Y'all just got to hit me.
